How it works
A placement from 1 to 8 has a standard deviation of about 2.3, so the uncertainty of an average is 2.3 divided by the square root of the number of games. The range shown is 1.96 times that, which gives 95 % confidence.
For the top 4 rate it uses the usual formula for proportions. It is approximate: with fewer than 20 games treat it as a rough guide.
It assumes your games are independent and similar. If your rank changed during the sample, split it into blocks.
