Rolling in TFT: when to spend gold in the shop

The numbers come from high elo:

Rolling means paying 2 gold for a new shop. You do it to find the units you’re missing or the copies that upgrade the ones you already have. It’s the most direct way to turn gold into strength, and also the easiest to waste.

Copies and stars

Three identical copies make a 2★ unit, and three 2★ units (nine copies) make a 3★. Each star multiplies the unit’s strength, which is why a cheap 3★ unit can perform like an expensive one at 1★ or 2★. Copies are shared by all players: if others are looking for the same unit, there are fewer left in the shop.

How TFT Coach helps

In My matches, if you reach stage 5 with two or more cheap units at 1★, the analysis points it out: that’s a board you could have improved by rolling. And if two or more opponents played your same comp, it warns you that it was contested.
